Carton Fit Desk

Practical guide

Check carton fit after adding product clearance

Carton Fit Desk separates a dimensional fit decision from a later purchasing comparison. Measure the product and use inner carton dimensions before ranking candidates.

Pad every product dimension

The clearance field applies to both ends of each dimension. The illustrative product is 210 x 160 x 110 mm with 12 mm clearance, producing 234 x 184 x 134 mm for the fit check.

padded dimension = measured dimension + 2 x clearance

The default padded product volume is 5.769504 litres after converting the cubic millimetres for display.

Let the engine try rotations

Each candidate carton is compared with the padded dimensions in all unique axis-aligned orders. A carton is kept only when one order fits; the engine then ranks fitting rows by entered unit cost, waste, and volume.

In the illustrative rows, the Small mailer is the lowest-cost fitting carton at the entered 2.15 per unit.

Keep inner and outer dimensions distinct

Enter the carton inner dimensions that contain the padded product. Confirm the measurement on a sample because board thickness, void fill, compression, and packing orientation are outside the arithmetic.

Check your own scenario

Replace the illustrative inputs with measured values and dated specifications.
